Happy October! It's finally spooky season, the leaves are starting to change, and the weather is slowly getting cooler. Despite my full calendar, the fall season is the best time to do something fun, festive, and seasonal.
If you are anything like me, you may want to do some fun things this season. Whether it's just you, your spouse, or all your girlfriends, I have some ideas that might just be your solution. So, kick back and take notes because you may have weekend plans after this!
#1 - It's Time For Kick-Off
Growing up in a football family, the fall season meant one thing - touchdowns and first-downs! Whether you prefer college football, the pros, or watching the game is just an excuse to eat good food; the fall season will be jam packed with games all season long! So, whether you are watching at home or tailgating in front of the stadium, it's time to grab your game-day gear and go-to eats! Let's make football your signature fall staple!
#2 - Get Pumpkin Everything
If you don't like pumpkin, just skip to the next activity - because fall to me is basically a pumpkin brand deal! Whether you are into trying out the new pumpkin spice flavored treats, baking your signature pumpkin bread, or decorating your house with 100 pumpkins, that is what fall is all about! There is no better way to get you into fall festivities than a good slice of pumpkin pie and your pumpkin scented candle!
#3 - Eat, Sleep, and Breathe Coffee
If you are anything like me, you love coffee! There is something about the fall season and coffee that is a signature combo. Whether you drink your hot latte or it's iced all year long, you deserve a caffeine infused treat! This season, I encourage you to make your daily coffee routine a seasonal activity! Try the fall drinks, go to a new cafe, take your friends on coffee date. We tend to forget daily life things can still bring us joy!
#4 - Pop the Popcorn
You can't get cozier than a crisp October evening, which means grab the blankets, fight over the remote, and pop a bucket of popcorn because you must have a movie marathon. It doesn't matter if you're into Harry Potter, Twilight, or classic Halloween slashers; movie marathons are the easiest way to host a bunch of people or to simply unwind alone this fall!
#5 - Pumpkin Patching
Is it really fall until you visit a pumpkin patch? Grab your family, pick out that warty pumpkin, eat a corndog, and take lots of photos. You can fill your fall season full of joy, nostalgia, and warmth just by visiting the pumpkin patch this autumn. By the way, you are never too old for the pumpkin patch!
#6 - Collect Leaves, Please
You may think this is really strange, but hear me out! I have been doing this for years, mostly because of my fascination with fall and how pretty the leaves are, but there is actually something really calming about it. As well as some potential activity inducing ideas! You can simply just pick up any leaves you like and keep them, what you do with them is your choice! Keep them for no reason, take pictures of them, make a garland, paint or color them, press them, etc. The creative freedom is endless. I have found that by seeing the beauty in fallen leaves is one of my simple joys every fall, so maybe it can be yours too!
#7 - Spooky Season Festivities
This may already be on your radar as October is the month of Halloween, but do a little extra this Halloween. Go to your local fall fest, hand candy out to trick-or-treaters, dress up (you're not too old), or make a new tradition. We often get so caught up in life we forget about the built in moments of community and joy that are right in front of us if we accept them. So, get spooky this season!
#8 - Have a Comfort Meal
I'm not going to lie, just because it's fall doesn't mean every day will fulfill your perfect autumn dreams. The rainy days, the lack of sunlight, and the approachment of grief can be really strong. That is why I encourage you to figure out your go-to fall comfort meal! Whether it's a yummy soup, easy casseroles, or your childhood meal. It can be very comforting, peaceful, and relaxing to treat yourself to your comfort meal every once in a while, especially on hard days.
Let's make the most out of our fall, friends!
I hope you can try some of these fall activities this month! Remember, the season is all about change, growth, and community! If you have any other favorite fall activities, let me know in the comments! Talk to you next time!
