Me and my Mom

Mother's Day is practically here. Many of you are panicked about what gift to buy or where you will have brunch. For other's, this day might be experienced in a completely new way; whether you are welcoming your first baby, mourning the loss of a child, spending the day without your children, missing your own mother, or even praying that one day you could be celebrated on this day. I know this day will look different for everyone! Not all women will wake up to breakfast in bed or get to give their mom a hug this Mother's day which can be a hard pill to swallow.

This week I want everyone to get something from this read, no matter how Mother's day impacts them, which is why we are going to dive into all things Mother's Day. Get ready to read an ultimately diverse gift guide, comforting words for a holiday that might be hard, and a little love letter to my own mom!

Mother's Day Gift Guide

For the Mom who loves Jesus:

For the Mom that reads:

For the Mom that's always outside:

For the Mom that needs a spa day:

For the Mom that loves to cook:

For the Mom that's sentimental:

I hope this gift guide sparks some ideas for you this Mother's Day! Giving gifts is all about the effort and thought put into it, so I encourage you to just love what you pick out, and I think your Mom/Mother figure will love it too!

Comforting Reminders

This weekend will be full of loving Facebook posts and joyful lunches. However, it might feel different for you! I am blessed to have my mom, and though I haven't reach the stage of having my own children, I understand the pain holidays can bring. That's why I wanted to dedicate some time to just talk to you and remind you it's okay to feel however you feel!

We are so used to making ourselves fit the picture and force the smile that hides our pain. I am here to tell you from the words of my favorite teacher, "It's okay to not be okay, but it's not okay to stay that way". Maybe this weekend is bringing up feelings of grief, sadness, and anger. I want you to know that you can feel all of those things and still feel joy. We think we are only meant to experience an emotion at a time, but a lovely Disney movie shows us that this is not true. I have learned in differing areas of my life that I can be sad, while also have a joy for life.

I want to encourage you this Mother's Day, that if it is hard, remember why? Think about what you made it through. Think about the love you were given growing up. Think about the love you gave in such a short time. Whatever your situation may be, I truly believe that there is joy to be found in it! So this Mother's Day, don't hide the tears or the smiles. There's power in getting emotional!

A Love Letter to My Mom

Last, but not least, I couldn't end this Mother's Day deep dive without thinking of my own mother! So here is a little love letter to her, from me:

Momma,

As Mother's Day is approaching I wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I love you! You are one of my best friends, who I can talk to about anything and everything. You are a better listener than talker, you see me at my weirdest, and you take care of me no matter what I may need. You are my book bestie, my laughing partner, and my biggest fan! You cheer for me, cry for me, fight for me, and dream with me despite how crazy my dreams may be. As I grow up, we only grow closer and that is the one advantage of time! You have allowed me to be emotional in all circumstances, which have lead to this blog today and despite your times of struggle (especially this year) you still find joy and laughter with me, and I am beyond thankful! I could never write enough words or express enough emotions to adequately explain how special you are to me! I love you forever Momma! Happy Mother's Day! You will always deserve to be celebrated!

-Your Daughter

I wish each and every one of you mothers, mother figures, future mothers, and grieving mothers a Happy Mother's Day! You all deserve to be celebrated for your dedication, love, and compassion you show. If there is special mom in your life that you would like to gift a love letter to, comment down below, then send this blog to them! Let's light the page with love for all the moms! Talk to you next week!
