If you didn't know, Easter is this week. Yep, it's already here! Spring has quickly begun, and its biggest holiday is ready to be celebrated. If you are anything like me you may be thinking about ways to celebrate and make the weekend special. Well, I am here to give you a few ideas for this year. In my life, Easter is such a big holiday for my faith as it's the day we celebrate Jesus being alive! He arose from the grave and his promises remain true! It's a day that is worthy of celebration, but it is also a fun day to embrace the traditions and experiences that many of us share too.
That is why, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite ways to make Easter special, so that you can try them this Easter weekend!
#1 - Attend a Church Service
As the holiday of Easter stems from Jesus sacrificing himself and rising from the grave, going to church is a great way to make the holiday special. It's a way to honor, remember, and reflect on what he did for us many years ago. It can also be a way to learn. Maybe you don't know the story of Easter; church is the perfect place to go! There will be many opportunities to attend church the entire Easter weekend!
There is also no pressure to be a certain way at church, you simply can just come as you are! You can be with a community and gain an opportunity to meet new people and learn new things. What better time than now!
I would love to see you at my church: 365 Church. Our Easter service is April 20th at 11:00 am.
#2 - Don't Skip the Easter Traditions
We all know that Easter felt extra special when we were kids as we waited for the Easter bunny to leave us a gift. As we become adults and our lives get busy, we let these things fade from our lives. This Easter, let's get involved in all the traditions. You don't have to have kids (but if you do, get them involved too). Do Easter baskets with your friends or family, go to Easter egg hunts, dress up for Easter. All of the things you did as a kid or wished that you did, do it now! Make your own traditions or participate in generational ones, whatever it may look like, don't skip it!
#3 - Make Easter Treats
One of my favorite things to do for every holiday, is to make themed treats! If you love to bake or cook this is a great way to make Easter weekend special for you! The options are unlimited for what you could possibly come up with. Some of my ideas are: carrot cake, bunny rabbit feet cupcakes, pound cake, etc. Not only does making a treat give you something to do, but then you have something yummy to eat. You get to choose to share it or not, but either way I bet you will be in the Easter spirit!
#4 - Get Crafty
Once again, you may think this is something only kids would do on Easter, but adults can be creative too! An easy way to feel festive and interactive this Easter is to create something. You could dye Easter eggs with your kids (or alone), you could host an Easter paint party, make an Easter themed garland, or even make your own wildflower bouquet from outside. Being crafty can look specific for you, and it doesn't have to be perfect, it's just for fun!
#5 - Host a Dinner
Holidays are special because of the people we spend them with, and that doesn't have to be any different this Easter! It's time to spend time with the people we love more, in person without any distractions. A great way to do this would be to have an Easter dinner, have everyone bring a dish, or if you are a control freak (like me) just make everything yourself! Hang up your Easter garland and display your flower bouquet, share your cupcakes you made, etc. You can share all of these special things with the important people in your life, your friends and family or maybe just you and your cat! However it may look, just make it special, because life is too short for anything less.
Have a happy Easter!
I hope these ideas inspire you to make this Easter special, whether you celebrate or not - you deserve it! Let me know in the comments if you try out any of these Easter ideas! I would love to hear your experience and see what you did! Talk to you next week!
