Italian Farmer's Market

With Spring quickly approaching there seems to be a lot to do. If you are anything like me you also want to make the most of this season. Instead, I find myself rotting on the couch, scrolling through social media, rather than trying to embrace the new season we are in. Spring doesn't excite me as much as fall, but I've found some fun activities that help me get active, grow, and enjoy the season. You may think you do not have time for fun, but everyone does! It doesn't have to be a week long vacation (though that would be nice), but it can be something small you do every day that brings you joy. Too often we travel through life doing the same old things that leave us feeling empty, how about we do something about that?

This spring I wanted to share some of the fun activities that I enjoy doing that help me feel alive, excited, and motivated to get out of the house!

Table of Contents

#1: Embrace the Spring Holidays

Spring is not the biggest holiday season, but there are plenty to celebrate: St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Cinco De Mayo, Earth Day, Mother's Day, etc. You may not hold any significance for these holidays, but it's the perfect chance to do something fun. You could host a Margarita Night for Cinco de Mayo, do crafts for Easter, or even attend a Mother's Day tea party. The options are limitless to what you could plan or attend, simply to just have fun! I am a full supporter of finding reasons to celebrate, so I will be finding me a little something fun to do each of these days!

#2: Take Time to Read

I am an avid reader with a long TBR, but I still have books collecting dust on my shelves. I definitely do not read as much as I want to, but why is that? It's not a time issue, because I catch myself spending too much time on social media. So, I thought it was time to start reading! Taking time to sit down with a book before bed or going outside to read for 30 minutes can really refresh you (and I find it fun)! You can even change it up by reading a new genre, diving into a self-help book, or even reading your Bible! Reading can be fun, just give it a try!

My Current Bible Plan: Numbers, Esther, and Mark

#3: Experiment With Your Green Thumb

An obvious spring activity that many people think of is gardening/planting. Now, I am no expert, but I

can keep plants alive! My oldest plant is from 2020, which is where this all started for me. There is something so satisfying about keeping your plants alive and watching them grow along with you and now is the perfect time to try this out! Whether you want to start a garden, get a succulent, or even just repot your current plants (which I need to do) there can be a lot of peace and growth found through your own green thumb! However, if you and plants don't get along it can also be nice to visit flower gardens or greenhouses to get your plant fix!

#4: Visit Your Local Farmer's Market

One of my favorite things to do in the spring is visit farmer's markets! It's the best way to get out, enjoy the weather, meet people, and see unique things. By consistently attending farmer's markets during the season you are not only supporting local vendors, but you are also gaining access to local products that can help you feel refreshed. Farmer's markets can be your fun spin on grocery shopping this spring as you can stock up on veggies, jams, fruits, breads, and meats. It's my ideal way to spend my Saturday mornings, either by myself or with a group it's such a fun way to get out and expand your horizons!

My Favorite Local Farmer's Market: Conway Farmer's Market

#5: Go For a Walk

To be honest, I thought it would be bad if I did not include a somewhat active activity within this list. It's just my reality that I am not as active as I would like to be (we are just being real), but I do find walking to be one of the fun ways to get active. It doesn't have to be advanced, but just a simple walk can be fun. You could walk with friends, listen to music/podcast, or even walk a nature trail. Simply the idea of getting out and taking a walk, especially in the spring can help you feel refreshed. I look at it as the perfect opportunity to get active because it's better than scorching in the summer and freezing over in the winter. This spring I am going use walks as encouragement to have fun while being active!

#6: Expand Your Palate

I always say that I will try any food once, and bouncing off of that spring is a great time to try new foods, drinks, and recipes. We all know you have that one recipe you have been dying to try, but you just haven't made the time to do it, or what about that new restaurant in town that sounds so good? Making time to cook or bake something new can be so fun and display some of your culinary skills. While going to try the new coffee shop with your girls can make for a new experience (like trying matcha for the first time). This can be such an easy way to include a little exploration in your daily life, and maybe give you some of that joy back!

My Favorite Spring Drink: Poppi Mocktail

#7: Visit the Zoo

When was the last time you went to the zoo? This may seem like an out of pocket activity, but there is something special about the zoo. The place where you went on field trips as a kid and fell in love with your favorite animal, and you just knew you were going to be a marine biologist (yeah, i've been there too). Honestly though, the joy we had as kids going to places like the zoo, we don't let have a place in our life anymore. I encourage you to go the zoo this spring, whether you have kids or not, take tons of pictures of the animals, pet the sheep at the petting zoo, and enjoy the moment. It's kind of a great experience!

#8: Get Creative

You may think that you don't have an artsy bone in your body, but I believe if you have an imagination than you do! Oftentimes I find myself bored, but I just don't want to leave the house, or let's be honest, hang out with anyone else. It can be so much fun to explore with your creativity! This could look like painting, drawing, poetry, dancing, etc. There are so many ways to get creative in your life, and express parts of your personality through this! I think this is such a fun way to help explore and grow myself during the spring!

#9: Be Involved in Your Community

Doing things alone can be fun, but also doing it with people in your community can be even more fun! As spring approaches there is an abundant amount of opportunities that communities put into place to bring people together! This could look like: Movie Nights, Picnic in the Park, or Spring Cleaning projects. These activities are great ways to connect with people and help you feel connected to your community. Whether it is to attend an event or volunteering, I find connecting with my community to be a really fun way to spend my time!

#10: Try Something New

Last, but not least on my list, give something new a shot! What better time than NOW, to start a new hobby, travel to that city, sign up for the class, or dream big dreams! It's time to give ourself opportunities to grow, but also grace to fail and what better way to do that than by trying something fun!

These are just a few fun activities that I have learned to love and I hope you can too! Comment down below which one you want to try this spring! Talk to you next week!
