What Are We Thankful For?

I recently had the opportunity to share a message of thankfulness at church. With it being the month of gratitude, I find it very important to express my thankfulness. The Bible shows us the importance of being thankful even in our pain and hardships.
The holiday season is not always ideal. Grief creeps up, the argumentative family member might ruin the meal, or the turkey might get burnt. Despite these challenges, we still have something to be thankful for.

What Am I Thankful For?
Oftentimes, we forget to share how we feel for a variety of reasons. This is why I am going to take a moment to share some things that I am thankful for this November:
Jesus and my church - for anchoring me and my faith
My family - for always loving and supporting me
My home, food, and transportation - for providing me comfort
My cohort - for giving me friendship when I needed it most
My ability to further my education and work - for the opportunity to grow
My pets - for their companionship
Coffee - for fueling my days
Mexican food - for being my comfort meal
The movie theatre and tv shows - for being my favorite past time
Books - for letting me dive into alternate worlds
Decorating for holidays - for the joy and creativity it brings
Traveling - for seeing the world God made and new experiences
These things that I am thankful for are important to me, things that I love, and things that are a part of who I am. However, if I never express my gratitude to these people or make my gratitude known, I am missing out on what matters.
I am well aware that I can either choose to be thankful for what I have or I can always be longing for things out of lack of contentment. I think that it is a beautiful choice to be overflowing in gratitude, but you have to start somewhere.
What Are You Thankful For?
I want to give you all an opportunity to share what you're thankful for. Can we have a chain of thankfulness overflowing this post? Share your list in the comments, share with your family, etc. Let's create an environment of thankfulness this month, but don't let it stop after Thanksgiving! Talk to you next time!
